Changelog
Every real change to the paper generator and the pages on this site, newest first.
An entry is added when something you might notice changes: a new paper type, ruling or page size, a corrected size or convention, or a fix that changes where lines land on a sheet. Pages are not re-dated unless their content actually changed, so the dates here and in the sitemap match.
The generator is deterministic: a share link always reproduces the same sheet from the same settings. If an entry below says the way a pattern is laid out was changed, a link made before that date may draw a slightly different sheet afterwards; a PDF you downloaded never changes.
If a sheet printed at the wrong size, or a size or ruling disagrees with its source, please report it. How the paper is drawn is described on the methodology page; when that changes, it is listed below too.
First version of the site.
- A generator for graph paper, dot grid paper, isometric and isometric dot paper, hexagon paper, lined paper, handwriting paper, polar graph paper and semi-log and log-log paper.
- Any spacing in inches or millimetres, with one-click presets (1/4, 1/5, 1/8 and 1/10 in; 1 cm, 5 mm and 2 mm; wide, college, narrow and Gregg ruling), on Letter, Legal, Tabloid, A3, A4, A5 or a custom sheet, portrait or landscape, with your own margins.
- Line colour and weight, heavier lines every so many squares, medium lines, axes, a border, a write-on header (name, date, class) and pages split between two patterns, such as graph paper with a lined notes column.
- Vector PDFs of up to 50 pages drawn in points, never as an image, with a calibration ruler on the sheet so you can check that the printer didn't scale it; true-size printing straight from the page; a true-size SVG; and share links that hold every setting.
- A guide on every paper page: what the paper is for, the usual sizes with counts worked out by the generator, and answers to common questions.
- Two guides: how to print at actual size in each browser and PDF reader, and graph paper sizes and spacing compared.
- A methodology page: the page-size standards, the unit conversions, how each pattern is laid out, how to print at actual size, and the sources for each paper convention.
